Terms of Service

Last updated: September 3, 2026

These terms cover your use of the Pawgress mobile app. By installing or using Pawgress, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

What Pawgress is

Pawgress is a free app for personally tracking the weight you lift on gym machines. It is provided at no charge, contains no advertising, and has no paid features, subscriptions, or in-app purchases. The pawprints and cosmetic coach unlocks in the app are earned purely by logging workouts and cannot be bought.

Not medical or fitness advice

Pawgress records numbers you enter. It does not prescribe workouts, evaluate whether an exercise is safe or appropriate for you, or provide medical, physical-therapy, or professional fitness advice. Lifting weights carries risk of injury. Consult a qualified professional before starting or changing an exercise program, and use your own judgment about what to lift.

The cat “coaches” in the app are cartoon characters included for entertainment only. The affirmations they display are selected at random from a fixed library of pre-written lines. They are not athletic coaching, not personalized training guidance, and not an assessment of your performance, technique, or progress — and nothing they say should be treated as a recommendation about what or how much to lift.

Your account and your data

Connecting a Google account is optional. If you do connect one, you remain responsible for that account and for the spreadsheet Pawgress creates in your Drive, which is yours to keep, edit, export, or delete. Your use of Google's services through the app is also subject to Google's own terms and policies. How Pawgress handles data is described in the Privacy Policy.

Pawgress stores your workout history on your device, and the developer has no copy of it. Keeping your own backup is up to you — on Android by leaving Google Sheets sync on, on iPhone by copying pawgress.json out of the app’s folder in the Files app. Uninstalling the app, resetting your device, or using the app's Full reset will remove local data, and it cannot be recovered by the developer.

Acceptable use

Use Pawgress for its intended purpose. Don't attempt to use it to gain unauthorized access to anyone else's Google account or data, and don't redistribute modified versions in a way that misrepresents them as the official app.

No warranty

Pawgress is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The app may contain bugs, may lose or fail to sync data, and may be unavailable or discontinued at any time. It is a personal project maintained on a best-effort basis, not a commercial service with a support commitment.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of your use of — or inability to use — Pawgress, including injury sustained while exercising.

License

Pawgress is open source. The source code is available under the MIT License, and the app's artwork and documentation — including this site — are available under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0, which means you may reuse and adapt them for any purpose, including commercially, so long as you give credit and indicate any changes you made. Full detail, and which files fall under which license, is in the license notes.

The Pawgress name is not covered by either license. Please don't present a derivative work as though it were the official app.

Changes

These terms may change as the app changes. The current version always lives on this page, with the date at the top updated accordingly. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
